NYCHFF founder Richard Hein at Soiree.

I attended the kickoff party for the ninth annual New York City Horror Film Festival at Soiree tonight, which was supposed to start at 8 PM. Festival founder Richard Hein came outside just before 8:30 PM to tell us we would be allowed inside in "two seconds" after everything was set up. He was very apologetic and offered us free beer at 10 PM. On top of being made to wait outside in 40 degree chilly weather, I found out I had to pay $10 to be admitted to the party.  No free admission unless your name was on the guest list, despite the fact that I had received an e-mail from Jennifer Sarno of MooDude films inviting me to the party. Oy! And, I was disappointed that Vincent did not appear, although I  had hoped he would be there, too. Oh well. There was a nice turnout for this event, and free Budweiser beer for one hour at 10 PM. We were also treated to a live performance by the New York band Saboteur Tiger and several short films in between live sets. I had my photo taken by a photographer inside Soiree before I left. I hope he got my good side. Maybe you'll see my face on the festival website one of these days. I'm wearing the gorgeous pinstriped suit and Hard Rock Cafe guitar pin on my lapel, similar to one of the pins I gave Vincent last July.

Anyway, I willl be attending the Friday night screening of Vincent's film "Don't Go In The Woods" and he will be present for the Q&A and after party. I can't wait until Friday. Yay!
