My brother the artist-Alberto's pictures

This is called "E's on Down the Road" copyright 2008. This piece was submitted to the NSARC, now NEARC, website (http://www.ne-arc.org/)  for consideration as the artwork for their annual conference pamphlet and also appeared on the ASA online gallery.

"Alvin and the Chipmunks" copyright 2008. This piece also appeared in the ASA online gallery. ASA stands for the Autism Society of America, at http://www.autism-society.org/.

Alberto is standing next to his entry in the 265 Gallery 2010 art contest. This piece is called "The Flintstones" copyright 2010. We visited the 265 Gallery at the Westchester ARC in Hawthorne, New York in May 2010 for their annual Art Show and Film Festival. Alberto had a great time!

Alberto made these spring flowers from construction paper that I posted on the wall in my office at work.

The Happy Easter sign Alberto made and placed on our front door.

An Easter egg Alberto made for me. :)

Our Easter basket with eggs we colored at home.

The coloring book Alberto created for the Autism Expo fundraiser during Autism Awareness Month in April 2010.

Here's the 2009 coloring book Alberto made for the Autism Expo fundraiser for his school.

  1. Alberto does a wonderful job with his art. I really love the "Es on Down the Road". So great!! Would like to see more of his work and learn more about him. I, too, am living with autism--have two daughters who are Aspies and am raising my 6 year old grandson who is diagnosed classic autism, but is finally verbal and hopefully on his way...

  3. Thanks, Ducky. I am very proud of my brother. Alberto's not only talented, he's very cool. I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. I gave Vincent copies of the two coloring books pictured above for his children to enjoy. Vincent had mentioned that he used to draw as a child in the interview he did for the DVD of "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys." I remember Vincent was so fascinated by the drawings Alberto made he carefully leafed through both books during the meet and greet at Joe's Pub in July. That made me so happy!

  4. I notice you put a copyright on "E's on Down the Road" May I print out a copy for my own use? I'd love to put it up on my office wall. I think it's so great!! My office wall is full of things Ray did in HeadStart classes, drawings from a friend, cartoons, etc. My "relaxation" wall. I take a break once in a while during my break to look at them and smile. Alberto's picture would be a very welcome addition.

  5. Oops, meant to say I take a breakonce in a while during my "day". Guess I need to learn to proofread a bit better. So careful during the day, but when I get home from work... :)

  7. Thanks, Blanca. Alberto surely does have talent. As crazy as it may sound, there are times when I truly believe that autism is a blessing.
